Quintrex proves boating can be enjoyed on a budget with the new 490 Freedom ‘Instant Boating’ package optioned up with a 75 horsepower Mercury OptiMax outboard.
Quintrex National Sales & Marketing Manager Damien Duncan said the 490 Freedom delivers great fuel economy.
“The 490 Freedom with a 75 Mercury OptiMax was tested by our research and development team and obtained fantastic results,” Damien said.
“On a full tank of fuel the package delivered 6 hours and 30 minutes of fun on the water ranging in speeds from 11.1km per hour to 40km per hour.
“And over this same time delivered an average fuel consumption of only 11.52 litres per hour,” he said.
The Mercury Optimax range of engines utilises the revolutionary direct-fuel-injection technology, are ultra clean, reliable and offer amazing power-to-weight performance and superior economy at cruising speeds.
“Not only does this package offer fantastic fuel economy but it can also be towed by a 4-cylinder car as small as the Toyota Corolla,” Damien said.
“Other small cars suitable are the Honda Civic and the Hyundai i30.
“According to RACQ data a Toyota Carolla is up to $3000 cheaper to own per year when compared to a V6 Ford or Holden, ultimately delivering even more savings,” he said.
In addition to fuel economy and towing capabilities the 490 Freedom sees the introduction of shorter plate side sheets to a Quintrex for the first time delivering a sleek finish and easy boarding capabilities from the beach.
Built to accommodate up to five people with level flotation, the 490 Freedom can be fitted with a maximum 90 horsepower outboard, comes standard with drink holders, stainless steel rear ladder, ski pole mount insert, deluxe bow upholstery, seats and rear lounge, sports steering wheel and a painted hull with stripes.
There is also a long list of options to choose from including a bimini and envelope, CD stereo and 500 watt speakers, VHF radio, ski tube rack, ski pole, transom door and Lowrance sounder to name only a few.
