25 June 2008 Cricket legend to auction Quintrex Offshore Relay boat

Cricket legend, Merv Hughes will auction the Quintrex Offshore Relay boat at 4pm on the JV Marine stand at the Melbourne Boat Show on Sunday 6th July, 2008.

Proceeds from the auction of the 670 Offshore, that took part in the 1,200 nautical mile Quintrex Offshore Relay from Brisbane to Melbourne (Sunday 18th May – Sunday 28th June), will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

National Sales & Marketing Manager Damien Duncan said the auction will be a one-off opportunity for customers to purchase a unique and award winning boat for a great cause.

“The auction of the 670 Offshore presents an exclusive opportunity for customers to purchase a uniquely fitted-out boat that’s been put through its paces,” he said.

“The model was also the recipient of the prestigious 2008 AMIF ‘Fishing Trailerable Boat of the Year (Aluminium Over 6m)’ award and Modern Boating magazine’s Aluminium Boat of the Year and can be viewed at the JV Marine stand for the duration of the boat show.

“Come Sunday 4pm, the auction is guaranteed to be an entertaining afternoon with Merv Hughes behind the microphone and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia to benefit from the proceeds,” he said.

The final leg of the Quintrex Offshore Relay will see the 670 Offshore arrive at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre at 11:30am via the Yarra River on Sunday 29th June.

A grand finale welcome party, hosted by JV Marine, will be staged for the boat’s arrival at the southern end of the Spencer Street Bridge on the banks of the Yarra River.

The Quintrex Offshore Relay witnessed the 670 Offshore visit 17 major ports along the East Coast between Brisbane and Melbourne via the Pacific Ocean.

The test of endurance and adventure showcased the toughness and seaworthiness of the 670 Offshore along with the performance and economy of the Cummins MerCruiser sterndrive diesel.

In conjunction with Quintrex dealers, fundraising barbeques in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia were held on the boats arrival at most stops followed by on-water days to give people a chance view and water test the Quintrex Offshore Relay 670 Offshore along with other popular Quintrex models.

Major sponsors and supporters of the Quintrex Offshore Relay are GME, Club Marine, Lowrance, Shimano, GE Money Solutions, Zodiac, Floscan Australia, Cummins Mercruiser, Vision Trak and BLA.
