For hard core anglers after a rugged and economical offshore aluminium boat, Quintrex unleased their new Offshore range at the Melbourne Boat Show, held 5th – 9th July, 2007.
The largest in the range, the 670 Offshore, was showcased on the JV Marine and Streaker Boats stands in two configurations, the 670 Offshore outboard and the 670 Offshore SDP (Stern Drive Petrol).
Quintrex Sales & Marketing Manager for Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania Des Hughes said both models generated a lot of interest over the five day show.
“The optional hard top configuration and the MerCruiser Cummins diesel sterndrive motor option proved very popular,” Des said.
“Our dealers were overwhelmed by the response from blue fin tuna fishermen from Tasmania and Western Victoria. These guys demand functionality, toughness and long range capabilities from their rigs.
“The response indicates that we will see quite a number of 670 Offshore models in their waters over the next couple of months.
“Our Offshore range offers fisherman economical rigs when compared to the large GRP game fishing boats. Fisherman want to tow their rigs up and down the coast yet seek a boat that can take them out far and wide to their favourite fishing grounds.
“The Offshore range gives fishermen a pressed plate option with the handling and performance characteristics of larger game fishing rigs,” he said.
In addition to the 670 Offshore, the full Quintrex Offshore fishing range also includes the 630 Offshore, 630 Offshore Ocean Sport and 670 Offshore Centre Cabin.
All models are available with three power options – MerCruiser Cummins diesel sterndrive (SDD), MerCrusier sterndrive petrol (SDP) or an outboard motor.
Boasting a long list of standard features designed specifically for offshore fishing, the offshore range comes standard with rocket launchers, bimini, front and side clears combination but can be optioned up to a sturdy Hard Top.
Quintrex National Sales & Marketing Manager Damien Duncan said the concept of the Offshore range was developed in response to market demand.
“We challenged our research and development team to develop a true trailerable game fishing boat constructed from pressed plate aluminium. Our team proposed the development of the Offshore range,” he said.
“Put to the test in large following seas, the Offshore models deliver a stable and smooth ride that cuts through the chop with ease thanks to the Millennium V-Flare Hull and Flared Bow combination.
“The 670 Offshore SDD with a 120 horsepower MerCruiser Cummins diesel engine is.a first for us and provides a fuel tank capacity of 260 litres for those long fishing expeditions,” Damien said.
Comfortably catering for seven to eight people, depending on which model you choose, the Offshore range all boast 5mm bottomsides, 3mm pressed topsides.
The extensive list of standard features for serious offshore anglers include a burley bucket, kill tank, transom live bait tank, outrigger mounting plates on the side decks, four stainless steel rod holders, transom door and aluminium rocket launchers.
And the list continues with an anchor winch bow plate, anchor tube, deck wash, transducer bracket, X-bollard on the front deck and transom corners, fully welded and sealed self draining tread plate floor with large scupper system, stainless steel rear ladder and Volvo QL Trim Tabs.
The cabin features a sliding cabin hatch with a carpeted interior fitted with optional cabin cushions (excludes 630 Offshore Ocean Sport) and roomy cabin storage bins for all your fishing gear. Other seating includes an engine box cushion on the engine casing and two upholstered seats with a slider on the helmsman side.
Taking the helm is a breeze with the large stainless steel wheel and fittings include a marine radio, compass and a helmsman dash console.
The three piece curved windscreen will protect you from the elements and for night fishing your boat will be lit up thanks to the cabin and cockpit lights.
